Agreed about Diablo 2, it had a extremely immature community, 3 years ago. I would really hate to see it nowadays. Unfortunately however, Guild Wars isn't that great itself.
I've been running a 55 BiP in AB recently with some guildies, with high energy builds. If I happen to ping my health, I catch hell from atleast 2-3 people all game. Constant "noob noob noob noob". They even follow me around and call out every skill I use. It is kind of pathetic to totally ignore the game just to try to insult someone.

I had no problem taking 10k for doing Dunes.
The dude was asking for a run saying that he'll pay 3k for a slot on a team to each member or 10k to anyone that takes them along if they do it with h/h.
I loaded up my ritu, grabbed some heroes, took him along and thanked him for the 10k after finished the mission.
People are paying for the option to NOT play a game.
In that case - any price that they are willing to pay is fine in my book.

Some ppl shout scammer when I'm trading stuff for profit. (WTBuying low to resell) I don't really get their point. It's not scam because I always pay what I advertise and it's to anyone to individually decide if they consider the price fair or not. If they don't like the price, go search for a better deal, but don't annoy around with "Playerx is a scammer!".

Well 5k probably was a bit much, but unless you know otherwise then its not your fault.
But people do that whole "[Enter name] is a scammer" all the time, regardless of whether you have actually scammed anyone. People are sooo self-rightious in the game that its unbelieveable.
Players think they should self-apoint themselves police, and "inform" the niave of scammers and "protect" them.
If they really are scamming, then great and I give them a thumbs up. But there are times when people get linched and called a scammer when they havent even done anything.
I can only compare it to a witch hunt.
Something gets it into their head, that your asking too high or low a price for something, and they feel its their "duty" to then brand you a scammer and tarnish your name.
I had an almost identical situation in elona.
I was asking 100g each to buy trade contracts, long before I realise their worth 700g. I thought 100g was reasonable, because I didnt realise they were for rubis.
I posted adverts to buy them for 100g a few times, and then turned on local chat to see some player was posting "Freeked out fishh is a scammer, trade contracts are worth 700g".
I was like "hold on, wtf are you on?"....
....and a huge argument started in this outpost for ages.
One of his points he kept making, was that he was being a conciderate, caring member of the community by informing the niave and less informed about the true cost of trade contracts.
Which he is welcome to do, but there is no need to tarnish another players name in the process.
He could have even whispered me and just said "you know their worth 700g".
But instead, a witch hunt was started and I was put on a stake and burnt.
But most players, do it for the ego trip. They love to knock people down and make them look bad. It has nothing to do with being and good samariton.
Best thing to do is just say "i didnt realise, sorry" and dont drop to their level. Chances are they will reply with insults, bad language and alike. But aslong as you keep your cool and dont act like them, they come off as the immature one.
NOTE: If someone truly is scamming, then make people aware. But ONLY if they truly are scamming.
Over charging for running isnt scamming in my view, because running is cheating in my view. You cant put a price on cheating, so you can charge what you like.
How someone can say "thats too expensive" to be run, is beyond me. Being run is hardly a legit service, and it hardly has a price set in stone.
If the player is willing to pay the price to do something dodgey, then let them.

I expect the one who is swearing and speaking and acting like a child is the guilty party. The one who is saying "mate, grow up. I didnt realise" is probably the one you want to bet on.
From my experience, its the one who initiates the "[ENTER NAME] is a scammer" who ends up swearing and using bad language and making a tit of themselves.
Whether they be in the right or not!

Only time i yell something is a scam is the "WTB Battle commendations - - 50g each - - good price"
I do it for BC's and monestary credits as its a noob island and people may not know they are worth double that
As for runs you charge too much nobody joins i don't see how it's a scam
But the last line on the screen shot does concern me

I noticed the same thing in the time when SF greenies where hot. It happened several times to me those days. I bought greenies for like say 70K and sold them for 90-100K ( was in the first week) and the people who sold me the greens for the lower price shouted in all chat that i was a scammer because i made around 30K profit on those items..
We both agreed about the price of 70K and it's my choice and from the new buyer to trade it for 100K..And then i'm a scammer.. Ehm, i am just doing what happends everywhere as an exapmple a supermarket, buy low sell high. The additional cost is for my time spend to sell it.

Although i totally agree generally the person who initates the "X is a scammer" is generally the one in the wrong, u still get some scammers who pretend theve done nothing wrong and act the same as a person who is targeted as a scammer who is innocent.
Both sides of agreements tend to get scammed, eg. both the runner can scam and the person who is getting run can scam, lol so what happens when a Scammer meets a scammer?

Then they deserve what they get!
My view is...
...if your doing something (like being RUN) and your daft enough to get scammed, then tough. Running is more-or-less cheating anyway in my view!
And if your stupid enough to 1) pay before the run, or 2) pay as a group and not individually, then you deserve to get scammed.
If you get scammed because your just being completely moronic, then its your own fault. Some of the responsibilty has to be on the victim, if they let it happen.
NOTE: Im not saying victims deserve scamming or crime, but if you put yourself in an obviously dodgey situation and something bad happens, then tough.

I saw something like that in Lions Arch where someone claimed X was a scammer, but he replied that he wasn't even trading anything.
Then that person continued with an onslaught of insults on that player and GW in general.
Thanks to the new rules on spamming in local chat, I now have a reason to turn it off =]

Wether or not the price is justified I would think a scammer would have to have an intent to scam, If a person knew tha the average price for something was 3k and went when nobody else was offereing said product and sold it at 5k then it would be possibel to say that they were scamming people since they were overcharging for said product in full knowledge. However this may be dependant on the knowledge of the purchaser too, as if they did not know the average price, and asked if they were payign it then they are being fooled, but if they do know it and agree to a higher price then they are not being scammed.
In the op's situation it is quite obvious that the latter is the case with regard to the purchaser and that the op did not know what the average was at that time, so in no way was he scamming.
However the person reporting him as one may have believed he was one since he thought the price was way too expensive.
the mature thing to do woudl have been to correct the op on the price he was charging however, rather than spamming that he was scamming. People can be mistaken on their judgment of the price of a run, the polite thing to do is to inform them that they are demanding far too high a price, give them the normal amount and aks if they will do it for that, if not then you leave them alone, they will soon run aout of business, and reduce their price, or if enough pay it then others will raise their price, thats how a market works.

Charging what you think is appropriate....is not a scam....they are not defrauding you out of anything....you can choose to go for it at that price or wait for a lower price. Would you call BMW or Mercedes a bunch of scammers because their cars cost considerably more than average? yeah doesn't make much sense does it?
5k is reasonable for that mission...that's usually the price I see advertised when I'm in that mission outpost...in fact I don't think I've seen it less than 5k. The mission isn't a run...the person has to fight the entire way...unlike some missions which allow the person to run all or most of it.
The best thing to do when someone falsely accuses you of scamming is just to take a 15 minute break or so...they'll get tired of accusing you...and they'll leave to do something else...leaving you able to advertise again.
I had someone do something similar to that when I told them I reported them for spamming trade messages in local chat in Kamadan (constant spam...5 messages in 10 seconds...over and over)...they stopped spamming and said I was a scammer and that I had been banned...funny how I could still talk in local and call them on it. Not exactly the smartest person in the world.

"Everything is worth what its purchaser will pay for it." - Publilius Syrus (~100 BC)
On the other hand...
"A ripoff (or rip-off) is a bad deal. Usually it refers to an incident in which a person pays too much for something. A ripoff is distinguished from a scam in that a scam involves wrongdoing such as fraud; a ripoff, on the other hand, is in the eye of the beholder. A scam might involve, for instance, a scheme in which a person pays $20 for a startup kit related to stuffing envelopes for a living, but the kit never arrives; upon receiving the money, the recipient flees. A ripoff, on the other hand, might be a business opportunity in which a person pays $375 for bulk vending machines worth $75. The fact that the advertised product actually arrives – even though it is worth far less than the purchase price – makes it a ripoff, not a scam." -Wikipedia
